Each session, I will work with you and your dog for about an hour on one or more behaviors until you are comfortable continuing on your own with the lesson.  I will also give you handouts at each session and go over homework assignments. 

Yes, there will be homework for you to do after I have left your home!   It is up to you practice the behaviors learned at that point, on your own, before the next session. Practice makes behaviors more reliable, and the more practice the better! And practicing with your dog should always be FUN!

All family (household) members who wish to attend one or all of the training sessions are welcome. The more the merrier in most cases.  Your dog lives with all of you, and the individual relationships can be strengthened during the sessions. There should be one adult for each two children 6-10 years old. Got kids under 6?  Please provide a mature caregiver (parent, older sibling, babysitter, etc.) to watch the kids while we work with the dog. Are you a Single Parent?  Give me a call and we will discuss the possibilities.

We will decide at the end of each session when the next session will be. If you have a few days off and will be practicing more, you may want to meet in 4 days rather than waiting a week.  If you have a busy schedule during that time and will be practicing less, you may want to wait 10 days to 2 weeks. Depending on the behaviors being addressed, we may meet at a local park or other location for a session or two “out in the world”.  All sessions purchased in a package plan must be used within 12 weeks from the date of purchase unless a schedule is specifically discussed and set at the time of purchase. Packages must be purchased in advance.

Once your dog has the basics down, and sometimes sooner, many behavior problems can be redirected from inappropriate behaviors to more suitable and desired ones. Your relationship with your dog will improve by leaps and bounds as you both learn.  Training together bonds an owner (and family) and a dog as you learn more about each other and apply that knowledge to your interactions.

Basic Manners Packages

Basic Manners    6 sessions  $450

• Initial consultation at your home
• 5 one hour sessions  scheduled to your needs

• Attention, Sit, Down, Leave-It, Leash Walking, Off
• Plus - Your choice of a Trick from among the following:

Shake, High Five, Wave, Sit Pretty, Rollover, Fetch

or

Basic Manners  Plus  9 sessions   $675

• Initial consultation at your home
• 8 one hour sessions scheduled to your needs

Behavior Goals:

• Attention, Sit, Down, Leave-It, Leash Walking, Off, Stay, Target
• Plus - Your choice of two Tricks from among the following:

Shake, High Five, Wave, Sit Pretty, Rollover, Fetch, Balance Cookie on Nose, Spin, Peek-A-Boo, Find-It

Custom Packages

If your dog is well-versed in some or most of the Basic Manners behaviors, or you wish to address a specific problem behavior, give me a call to schedule an in-home consultation for $75 and I will help you decide what works best for you and your dog.

Custom Package 1            2 sessions             $150

Custom Package 2            4 sessions             $300

Custom Package 3            6 sessions             $450

Custom Package 4            8 sessions             $600

Each package consists of a one hour session with you and your dog every week to two weeks. Session times must be scheduled so that no more than two weeks passes between each session for all packages.  All sessions purchased in a package plan must be used within 12 weeks from the date of purchase unless a schedule is specifically discussed and set at the time of purchase.  Packages must be purchased in advance.

Multiple Dogs

Do you have Multiple Dogs? The packages are designed for the individual training of you, the handler and one dog. In order to train more than one dog at a session you will need to provide a familiar handler for each dog being included. Please add $25 per session for each additional dog. However…

If you prefer to be the handler for each of your dogs, I recommend training the “worst offender’ first, as the primary dog being trained. We can try to set up the session so that the other dogs watch and get used to the idea of treats for tricks. However the watchers cannot be too big a distraction from the dog being trained and the layout of your home must allow for the confinement of the other dogs where they can see the session action but not interfere with it. Regardless of whether we have the “peanut gallery” in attendance, you can later apply the lessons you learn to each of your remaining dogs, individually. If you need further assistance with one of the other dogs, we can schedule additional sessions with that dog as the primary student.

Mini-Group Classes

Got friends, extended family or neighbors whose dogs need training too?  Have a Mini-Group class in your home or the neighborhood clubhouse that includes family, friends, or neighbors.  Groups will meet for one hour on the same day at the same time every week or every two weeks, your choice.  Groups can consist of   3-8 dog/handler teams depending on the space available. The last class session will be a Graduation Celebration with certificates, games, contests, and plenty of opportunities to show off what you’ve learned!
