Not everyone wants to be a dog trainer.  With the Walk and Train program, I come to your home while you are away or home but otherwise occupied and walk and train your dog for you. This is also known as “Day Training” but with some exercise to work off the heebie-jeebies thrown in.  This is about as “hands-off” as you can get without your dog leaving home to go to day school or away for weeks at a training camp.

The benefits are numerous. Your dog gets exercise and stimulation, both mental and physical.  You learn how and when to ask for the new behaviors without having to teach them initially.  This is a great solution for those who really want to enjoy activities with their dog, but do not have the extra time or inclination required to train the dog to be an enjoyable companion.

During the initial in-home consultation, we will discuss the behaviors you want your dog to do as well as any behaviors you want your dog to stop doing.  You will tell me the ways in which you want to have fun with your dog and together we will formulate a plan to accomplish those goals. We will discuss training methods, equipment, exercise, and practice requirements, and the commitment you will need to make to ensure success.  We will also go on a walk through the neighborhood to identify your dog’s favorite places and spot any potential trouble spots to avoid. The initial consultation takes approximately an hour to an hour and a half.

Dog only sessions – Your dog and I will walk in your neighborhood for 15 – 30 minutes and then I will work one on one with your dog teaching and practicing behaviors for the balance of the session time.  I will leave a note for you each day on the lesson plan with progress reports.

During the owner and dog sessions I will show you what Rover has learned and how to practice those behaviors on your own as well as discuss plans for the next week’s sessions.  I will give you handouts and go over practice schedules. I have said it before and I will say it again: You will have to do some homework.  Practice makes behaviors more reliable, and the more practice the better!  And it’s FUN!

 Plus - Your choice of a Trick from among the following:

Shake, High Five, Wave, Sit Pretty, Rollover

Basic Manners  Plus  8 weeks  $1600

• 3 one hour sessions per week – dog only*
• 1 30 minute session per week – owner(s) and dog

Behaviors Goals:

• Attention, Sit, Down, Leave-It, Leash Walking, Stay, Target.

Plus - Your choice of two Tricks from among the following:

Shake, High Five, Wave, Sit Pretty, Rollover, Balance Cookie on Nose, Spin, Peek-A-Boo

*Are you having a really busy week?  Add an additional dog-only session to ensure Rover gets the practice needed to solidify behaviors as well additional exercise. Add an additional dog-only session for only $25 per week

Maintenance – Keeping Up the Good Work!

For dogs who have graduated from one of the training packages listed above, I also offer 30 minute maintenance sessions. Since the behaviors have been learned, they will be practiced as we walk or play for exercise. I will leave you notes or send emails as needed for communication. Sessions with you, the owner will be scheduled as needed for an additional $50 per owner session.

Maintenance Sessions should be scheduled at least twice a week. All sessions purchased in a package plan must be used within 12 weeks from the date of purchase unless a schedule is specifically discussed and set at the time of purchase. Packages must be purchased in advance.
